TOES’ WEEK 7 NFL, COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

WEEK 7 NFL, COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

PREVIOUS WEEKS REVIEW/RANDOM THOUGHTS

  • I guess I’ll start off with the Tomball game, great crowd and that about the only thing you can say good about it. I still dont see why Tomball didnt put in some Temporary bleachers behind the endzone! The crowd was way to big for that stadium. People standing in the isles, and Tomball people had to go over to the Collins side that was overflow as well. So I have no clue as to why there was no temporary bleachers set up. The Woodlands had the smarts to do it for their game against Lufkin over 11,000 in a soldout stadium Friday. If Tomball people dont like being viewed as a sub par program do the little things that other schools do. Average people who dont have kids playing or in band arent going to go to the games if its a hassle or impossible to find somewhere to sit, not that going to 42-0 games is enticing either but the sitting arrangement didnt help the cause.

  • As for the game itself The energy from the big crowd from it disappeared bout 4 seconds into the game as the opening kickoff was fumbled and Klein Collins turned it into a TD, Then a couple of drops and ONE 1st down the whole game. I dont know if this was much of a let down as compared to a wake up call, Its not going to get any easier, as this was the 1st game of 4 in a row of the teams in my preseason picks to make the playoffs in this district. But anyways here the a video of the highlights or lowlights from the game Friday Its a handheld camera so its not very good but you can see how large the crowd is on the Tomball side, and really that was the only thing worth seeing

  • Is there anything Andrew Luck cant do!!! WOW BIG HIT!!!!

  • Woodlands vs Lufkin was yet another classic battle from a SOLD OUT , Woodforest Stadium, and unlike Tomball, The Woodlands had the smarts to put in Temporary Bleachers behind the endzone. Lasco returned from injury with a vengeance. Rushing for over 160 yards and a couple of TD’s Which was good to see because at the state 7on7 tourney over the summer that Lufkin team was really talking trash about what was going to happen to him, when they played this season. Lufkin was a lil short handed with their star RB being out with an injury But with the talent they have the couldnt have been much drop off. But watch the highlights below

Good to see LSU win with two Texans and I consider them Houston players cause they are close QB Jarrett Lee (Brenham, H.S) and Terrence Tolliver (Hempstead. H.S.) both on the game winning play and how bout that fake field goal!!

OVERALL GAME OF THE WEEK

#18 Wisconsin Badgers vs #1 Ohio St. Buckeyes
7pm Saturday October 16th Camp Randall Stadium Wisconsin

Terrelle Pryor Ohio State QB                                        John Clay Wisconsin RB

Just like last week with South Carolina vs Alabama, The number one ranked team is going into hostile territory. And another upset is a real possibility Here is the write up from espn.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio State Buckeyes have waltzed through their first six opponents on the way to becoming No. 1.
With a game on Saturday at No. 18 Wisconsin, staying there will be much harder.
“It’s good to be No. 1, but if we don’t play like it every week, then all the hype will be for naught,” linebacker Brian Rolle said.
Not everyone believes the Buckeyes deserve to be No. 1. Critics point out that by the middle of October, the Buckeyes have played exactly one game away from their home stadium. Also, they haven’t tackled anyone currently ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. (Miami was 12th at the time they lost in Columbus to the Buckeyes, but has since plummeted out of sight.)
At the same time, Ohio State fans are up in arms that mock Bowl Championship Series rankings a week before the first BCS list is released has the Buckeyes fifth. That is due to being downgraded by computers that take a dim view of the Buckeyes’ (lack of) strength of schedule (Marshall, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Miami) and drop them way down below the TCUs and Boise States of the world in that category.
But a lot of the questions and doubts about Ohio State (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) and its rise to the top spot in the polls should be answered this week when the Buckeyes head for Madison, Wis.
The Badgers (5-1, 1-1) are good and particularly good at home. They’ve gone 40-4 at Camp Randall Stadium since the start of the 2004 season. What’s more, the game is at night, allowing an already rambunctious student section to get even more fired up for the big showdown. The Badgers have won 25 of their last 28 night games.
Linebacker Ross Homan said, “Playing there is so tough. You have to battle through a lot.”
An environment like that intimidates some opponents and energizes others.
“I remember we went to Wisconsin my sophomore year,” Rolle said, reflecting on the 2008 game. “It was ridiculous. I believe that student section is the best in the country.”
The product on the field isn’t bad, either.
Led by senior quarterback Scott Tolzien and tailbacks John Clay and James White, the Badgers are physical and tough and rank fourth in he Big Ten in total offense at 450 yards per game. It’ll be a huge test for Ohio State’s defense in particular.
“They know what they’re heading into,” Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said.
Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor shared Big Ten offensive player of the week honors with Clay, passing for a career-high 334 yards (24 of 30, 3 TDs) in a 38-10 rout of Indiana. Wisconsin is a red-letter game for him and his teammates.
“Without a doubt,” he said. “It’s always circled on the calendar — especially when it’s at Camp Randall. Every Big Ten game is a challenge. The last time I was there, it was a great experience for me.”
Pryor was a callow freshman, making just his third collegiate start, at Wisconsin in 2008. He led the Buckeyes on two fourth-quarter scoring drives, capped by his own 11-yard touchdown sprint around left end with 1:08 remaining, to end Wisconsin’s 16-game home winning streak, 20-17.
The game also means a lot to Wisconsin, which has only lost to No. 13 Michigan State two weeks ago. One more defeat and the Badgers will be pretty much out of the Big Ten title hunt.
“It’s going to be a huge step up (in competition), just because year in and year out, those guys are the best of the best,” Tolzien said. “They’re super talented and really well coached and physical and all those things that great teams are. We’re going to have our hands full, and we truly need to really lock in.”
Pryor has never forgotten the crowd as it danced, leaped and swayed in unison to the “Jump Around” song heading into the fourth quarter.
“The place JUMPS,” he said with a grin, shaking his head.
It’s the kind of atmosphere — “Jump Around” is performed by the aptly named House of Pain — that No. 1 teams have to get used to on the road.

WELL WITH IT BEING A NIGHT GAME YOU KNOW THE STUDENT SECTION IS GONNA BE TANKED SO THIS TRADITION SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CRAZY CHECK IT OUT

HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK

KLEIN COLLINS TIGERS (6-0) vs KLEIN BEARKATS (6-0)
FRIDAY October 15th 7:00pm Klein Memorial
PhotobucketKlein Collins David Santos Nebraska Commit

Keshawn Hill, Klein RB                 David Santos, Klein Collins LB
                                                              (Nebraska Commit)

Seem like every week there is a game of the week in this district. Klein in my opinion has the best chance to beat Klein Collins, Klein plays real smart dont make a lot of mistakes no penalties no turnovers, ball control offense. Klein didnt really look too impressive at the game I was at last week against Spring. Klein should be able to handle them but I’ll take Collins in a close one

TOES PICK:
KLEIN : 21
KLEIN COLLINS: 24

TOMBALL COUGARS (5-1) vs DEKANEY WILDCATS (5-1)
7PM FRIDAY OCT. 15TH GEORGE STADIUM (SPRING)

Tomball Malcolm ScottPhotobucket
Tomball Malcolm Scott (SR Safety)                                   Dekaney Trey Williams (Junior RB)

Dekaney comes into this game with revenge on their mind with what happened last year in Tomball, you can actually say that game was why Dekaney was sitting at home during playoff time. Tomball looked downright awful last week against a much superior opponent. Dekaney comes in off an impressive victory over Klein Oak. Dekaney in my preseason picks (which you can see if you scroll all the way down) I picked to finish 2nd in the district, when most places had them pick 5th or 6th. So I really like Dekaney more than others. Dekaney has also played that same team that throttled Tomball, Klein Collins, against Klein Collins Dekaney had them on the ropes leading by a Touchdown with 5 minutes to play before giving up 2 late touchdown passes of 56 and 84 yards to lose by a touchdown. And Junior Running Back Trey Williams had over 200 yards rushing against them with Tomball as a team had something like 20. Dekaney isnt much on passing the ball. But they do have a slippery QB and the last time Tomball played a good agile QB was Spring and they had trouble stopping him. So I think that puts some real pressure on them. The two safeties are going to have tackle well and turn those would be 50-60 yard touchdown runs into 7-8 yard gains, and last week they didnt do that. But most the season they have been doing that so Im optimistic that they can here but this will be the best RB they face all year. On offense Tomball should be able to have their moments. But I dont think it will be enough to keep up with Dekaney

TOES PICK:
TOMBALL: 17
DEKANEY: 38

DISTRICT  13-5A                                   REMAINING GAMES
1. Klein                                    3-0                                                Klein Collins, Dekaney, Tomball, Klein Oak

8. Spring                              0-3                                                   Klein Forest, Westfield, Klein Oak, Klein Collins

Here is the way Tomball would get the most help this week
Klein Collins over Klein (probable)
Westfield over Klein Oak (toss up)
Spring over Klein Forest (not likely) though this game is pretty irrelevant

COLLEGE GAME OF THE WEEK

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS @ AUBURN TIGERS
SATURDAY OCTOBER 16th Auburn 2:30pm TV:CBS,

PhotobucketCam Newton Auburn

Ryan Mallett Arkansas QB                                         Cam Newton Auburn QB
Texas H.S. Texarkana                                                  Florida/Blinn College Transfer

Auburn is coming in barely escaping at Kentucky last week with a Victory. Arkansas only scores 24 points on Texas A&M last week. Last year matchup saw Arkansas blow out Auburn 44-23, But Cam Newton has been leading an offense by running with his legs, and surprisingly throwing the ball as well. I guess it shouldnt be too surprised the Florida folks seen his arm strength when he threw the stolen laptop from his dorm room window when campus police was knocking on the door to search his room and that led to him getting kicked out, and then going to Brenham to Blinn College Cam Newton though has played pretty well since leaving Florida, But these close calls arent going to go their way every week. But my numbers are saying bet Auburn (-3.5), and its rare that I bet a favorite in the SEC so we will see how this one goes

NFL GAME OF THE WEEK
MINNESOTA VIKINGS vs DALLAS COWBOYS
Roy Williams CowboysRandy Moss Vikings

Roy Williams Cowboys WR                                                Randy Moss Vikings WR

What was supposed to be a NFC Champioship preview has been reduced to a Battle to keep playoff hopes alive, Dallas comes in off a devastating loss to my Tennessee Titans and like usual people are screaming for Wade Phillips head. But here is one thing I can pretty much promise, and that is the time of Wade Phillips being fired, and that is the week of the Super Bowl, cause Jerry Jones is an attention whore and wants to take away from the teams that will be playing in the Super Bowl cause the Cowboys certainly wont be there. As for the game this week I like the Vikings

1. Baltimore (+3) @ New England
2. Minnesota (-1.5) vs Dallas
3. NY Jets (-3) @ Denver
4. Tampa Bay (+4.5) vs New Orleans
5. Atlanta (+3) @ Philadelphia

Stanford QB Andrew Luck                                                   Oregon QB Darron Thomas
Stratford High School (Houston)                                      Aldine High School (Houston)

Once again just like last week the game of the Week has 2 top 10 ranked teams meeting up. And just like last weeks top 10 game this weeks game is also led by Quarterbacks from Texas and this one both of the quarterbacks are from Houston!! Stanford and Oregon come into this one hot as can be. Oregon struggled with Arizona State. Stanford QB Andrew Luck is ne of the leaders for the Heisman, Its game like this where you win or lose those awards.Oregon also has one of the best home field advantages in all of college football, that place gets crazy Oregon has Darron Thomas at quarterback out of Houston Texas, and he has led the Number one offense in the country and he has been doing it with his legs and his arm. Luck is the best QB in the country. But Oregon was my preseason pick to be in the National Championship game. So Im gonna roll with Oregon to win in this one. But 7 points is to many points to give to Andrew Luck so bet Stanford (+7)

TOES PICK
STANFORD : 31
OREGON: 35

HIGH SCHOOL PICKS

TOMBALL COUGARS(4-0) vs SPRING LIONS (2-2)
4pm SATURDAY, George Stadium (spring)

Tomball Montrell Logan Spring Lions

TOMBALL WR Montrell Logan                Spring QB Greg Livingston

Tomball for the 2nd week in a row plays a team with a potential QB situation. Greg Livingston #19 who has been hurt did not play last week. Now Im pretty sure its nothing serious and he should play this week. His back up PJ Kopesky who was the QB last year played last week and they quickly got behind to Dekaney. Spring’s has a new coach this year he runs a spread option offense. I havent seen them play this year. But This years QB #19 Livingston was a wide receiver last year and he was pretty good there and thats where he will play in college. He seems to be putting up decent numbers rushing On Defense they haven’t really slowed anybody down they do have a DE Brandon Bennett #45 that is committed to Oregon State. Where they have struggled is stopping the run. In there their two losses Spring gave up huge numbers to Spring’s Trey Williams over 200 yards and 2 TD’s and Montgomery’s Leroy Dobbins had similar numbers. Both Tomball and Spring have played Morton Ranch and both scored 40 something points on them and held them to 14 or under. On offense Tomball’s run game came out the closet last week. As a team running for over 200 yards, by RB duo Green#24 and Angelle #25. Tomball didnt have any costly turnovers. The passing game wasnt where it needs to be last week, but they made timely catches to keep drives going.

TOES PICK:
TOMBALL: 38
SPRING: 17

TOES 15 HIGH SCHOOL PICKS
1. Tomball over Spring (Sat 4pm)
2. Cy Creek over Cy Ranch (thurs 7pm)

COLLEGE GAME OF THE WEEK

#8 Oklahoma Sooners (-3.5) vs #21 Texas Longhorns (+3.5)
2:30 Saturday October 2nd, Cotton Bowl (Dallas TX)

texas garrett gilbert Oklahoma Demarco Murray

TEXAS GARRETT GILBERT                                    OKLAHOMA DEMARCO MURRAY

Texas comes into this one with huge disappointing loss to UCLA, Oklahoma has stuggles to put teams they should easily beat away with the exception of Florida State. Texas cant really seem to do anything consistently on offense. As has been the case all year the receivers drop balls and last week TE started dropping balls (3 I think) the running backs cant do anything the line isnt blocking anyone and then, all the sudden last week they could stop the run on defense. As I said at the beginning of the year without Gilbert this is a 6-6 team . With Gilbert this is one I cant see him doing anything in. Unless the freshman receivers come through. But I’ll take Oklahoma (-3.5) in this one

TOES PICK
TEXAS : 14
OKLAHOMA: 35

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide(-9.5) vs #7 Florida Gators (+9.5)
Saturday 7pm Bryant-Denny Stadium Alabama

Alabama Julio Jones Janorice Jenkins Florida
Alabama Julio Jones WR            Florida Janorice Jenkins CB

Another game with 2 top 10 teams. Alabama has looked like a defending National Championship team should look. Florida has stuggled with a new QB and a center that has real trouble snapping the ball in shotgun. It doesnt look good for Florida, Maybe there could be a Tebow effect in this game. They current Florida players should remember last years game vs Alabama and how they were dancin on Floridas field doing the Gator chomp while Tebow was tearing up on the Florida sideline. Maybe Tebow could even show up before the game and give one of those speeches!! The Broncos play in Nashville and the game is in Alabama. Maybe they will let him make a quick trip but leave before the game is over, but I doubt it. The thing to watch will be #1 Janorice Jenkins a florida Cornerback vs #8 for Alabama Julio Jones. Those two guys will be selected in the 1st 15 picks of the NFL draft coming up and If one of them excels against each other that will make them a lot of money come April. But betting wise to me the SEC is a lot like the NFL If I get double digits in points I will take the points. 9.5 is close so hopefully that will get moved to 10 before Kickoff So for now take Florida (+9.5)
